•PERSONALITY ☆ Ran is sweet and compassionate, often crying over the pain of others, but is also stubborn and capable of losing her temper. Though Ran's studious, she has never revealed (other than in an anime-only episode) any career aspirations. She loves romance novels, TV dramas, and shopping. She also enjoys cooking delicious meals and keeping her house clean; if she didn't, her father's detective agency would overflow with beer cans and ashtrays. She has a crafty streak, too, often plotting well-intentioned but clueless ways to get her separated parents back together. As a karate champion, Ran readily uses her fighting skills to defend anyone being wronged, but is deathly afraid of the supernatural. Her most vulnerable point, however, is her love for Kudou Shin'ichi, her childhood friend who disappeared some time ago. She thinks of him fondly and sometimes cries because she misses him. It's uncertain how she would react if she knew he was living with her in the shrunken guise of a grade schooler named Conan, but chances are it would be emotional--one way or another!

•APPEARANCE ☆ Average height for a Japanese high school student; dark, straight hair is pulled halfway back and reaches below her shoulders, though a side part comes to a point above her head; round, blue eyes; strong, slim, and curvy figure; high school uniform is a dark blue, pleated skirt with suit jacket and green tie; otherwise, she dresses in simple, but stylish clothes.

•HISTORY ☆ Ran was born and raised in Beika, a fictional neighborhood of Tokyo. Until she was six years old, she lived in an apartment with both her parents. After that, her mother moved out and established a law office, leaving Ran with her father, Kogorou, who eventually quit his job as a police officer to establish the poorly-run Mouri Detective Agency. Years later, when her childhood friend, Kudou Shin'ichi, began to solve cases and emerge as a modern day Sherlock Holmes, it became a mild threat to her father's business. Until Shin'ichi shrank and moved in with them as Conan, Ran cared for her drunken, but well-meaning father and the Agency. Despite several brushes with the truth of Conan's identity, she has never proven it and normally believes Conan's the child he seems to be. She's currently in her second year at Teitan High School.
